Background
Aurora received her bachelor’s degree in marine biology from Nova Southeastern University in May 2021. After graduating, Aurora worked for NOAA as a Fisheries Observer working on commercial fishing vessels in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean. Aurora has spent the last two years working on Little St. Simons Island (LSSI), a barrier islands off the Georgia coast. During her time on LSSI as Ecological Coordinator, Aurora coordinated the research program on the island, conducted field studies on shorebirds, sea turtles, and freshwater wetlands, and managed habitats. Aurora’s main research interests are freshwater wetlands and the restoration efforts surrounding them. She will be working on a project focused on levee setbacks and floodplain restoration along the Missouri River.
